Associazione Piscicoltori Italiani
The A.P.I. is a non-profit corporation. It aims to protect, develop and consolidate all activities related to fish-breeding both in fresh and in salt and brackish waters. Consequently, it promotes any financial, scientific, technical, insurance, professional, union and legal interventions which may prove necessary to reach this target. The assistance in the financial sector intends to meet the fish breeders' requirements regarding any possibilities to optimise their own resources and any opportunities of obtaining public financing.
The interest of A.P.I. in the scientific section is realised through a collaboration with various Scientific Institutions in order to widen its knowledge about fish-breeding and make it available to involved companies, both for technological innovations and for supplying veterinary assistance to the associates. Qualified and professional consultants are essential for the Associazione Piscicoltori Italiani in order to provide the associates with a satisfactory assistance. In the union and legal field, A.P.I. aims to establish a close relation with Local institutions and bodies competent in aquaculture harmonising institutional requirements with the breeders' needs.
Key personel
Pier Antonio Salvador: Bachelor in Marketing and Finance at International University of Miami, USA, he is fish farmer of second generation and owner of rainbow trout farms. Active in farm associations since seventies he has been Vice President of the National Youth Farmers Association - Confederation of Italian Farmers (Confagricoltura) of Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, and he is still in the Board of Directors of Farmers Union of Pordenone Province.
Member of Board of Directors the Italian Fish Famers Association (API –Associazione Piscicoltori Italiani) since the second half of ‘80s, he has been Vice President from 1994 to 2000 following with particular attention the aspects of animal health in aquaculture processing and marketing of aquaculture products. Since June 2000 he is API President, re-confirmed for the triennium 2015- 2018, he has been a member of the Advisory Commission for Fishing and Aquaculture at Italian Ministry of Agriculture from 2005 to 2012 he is still involved in ministerial working groups and concertation tables. From 2009 to 2010 he has been Counselor of Ministry of Agriculture Food and Forestry Policies for Aquaculture sector.
He represents API within the Federation of European Aquaculture Producers (FEAP), in which he holds the position of Chairman of the “Fish Health Commission”.
President of the working group “Aquaculture” in COPA/COGECA, in which he currently holds the position of Vice Chairman of “Fish Party”. From 2003 to 2012 he has been a member of Advisory Committee of Fisheries and Aquaculture (ACFA), joint council of consultation of sector established by DG PECHE of the European Commission. He is currently involved in the preparatory work of the Advisory Councils in the fish sector (Market Advisory Council and Aquaculture Advisory Council).
